1. It’s extremely affordable

2. You’re close to the coast.
Hull University offers the best of both worlds. The vibrant city is moments away from the spectacular Yorkshire Coast, home to some of Britain’s most beautiful beaches – perfect for breaking up your study days with walks and sunsets.
Tunstall Beach
Just a 30-minute drive away from Hull University, Tunstall is a great spot for breaking up an afternoon with a beach walk and coffee.
Mappleton Beach
Also, just a 30-minute drive away, Mappleton beach is incredibly scenic and host to an array of beach cafes and tea rooms making it a perfect spot for lunch.
North Landing Flamborough
Slightly further afield but worth the journey, North Landing is around an hour away from Hull University and is great for coastal walks and kayaking.
3. There is lots to see and do.
There’s so much to see and do, you’ll have a hard time ticking everything off your list whilst studying here. If a trip to the beach isn’t taking your fancy there is a lot to offer right on the doorstep of Hull University Campus. You can take a stroll along Humber Bridge and enjoy views of the city, or walk through Hull’s Old Town and find hidden gems around every corner. On the marina, a collection of derelict warehouses have been converted into trendy contemporary bars, music venues, and even a chocolatier. Hull is also home to The Deep which is one of the UK’s biggest aquariums and top tourist attractions. If you’re looking for something a little more upbeat, there’s also incredible nightlife. Hull University has a student union which is a hub of fun events. If you feel like venturing away from the campus, The Ryder Social Club on Coltman Street and Service Station on George Street are both lively and popular venues for a great night out.
4. There’s a hub of culture.
Hull is rich with culture. In fact, it was voted the UK City of Culture in 2017. In addition to all of the fantastic things to do above, there is plenty of history and heritage to explore. With five museums, and Ferens Art Gallery right on your doorstep, you’ll be spoilt for choice for weekend activities. Humber Street is at the heart of Hull’s Fruit Market which has an abundance of arts, culture, cafes, and bars, perfect for if you’re looking to spruce up your student digs with a contemporary print. There’s also a shiny new concert venue, and Hull is host to Freedom Festival which offers incredible performances and installations – the calendar is always full here.
5. Hull University is easy to get to.
Hull is extremely accessible, you can visit by road, rail sea and air. There are direct trains to London, which will get you to the capital in just three hours. If you want to explore other parts of the UK, Birmingham is only two and half hours away and it’s an hour from York or Leeds. For international travel, there are daily crossings on the ferry to Belgium and the Netherlands and you can reach destinations across Europe from Humberside airport – trips home couldn’t be easier!
