Now you have been in the UK for a few months, you will find that your course gets a bit more intensive, particularly as you might be building up to exams in the early New Year. UK Guarantor have asked the experts to come up with their top five study tips for international students;

1 Listen to the Radio

The team at the University of Sheffield recommend listening to UK radio shows. UK Radio offers a variety of different stations which often have panel discussions from a variety of experts from different backgrounds. Listening to quality radio is a proven way of improving your English as well as improving your knowledge.
2 Take your time to adjust

Don’t panic. UKISA point out that it will take both international and UK based students some time to adjust to academic culture in the UK. In particular it may take a while to get used to the fact that you are expected to study independently for much of the time. It is important to ask your tutor or supervisor for support if you are struggling with this expectation.
3 Learn where and when you learn best

Some people like to study at home, others in the library. Many of us prefer to do late nights to achieve a deadline, while others would much prefer an early start when getting their work done. As the experts as the University of Hull point out it really does not matter, as long as it works for you!
4 Make it social

Most people agree that there are plenty of benefits to making study a social activity. Working in groups is a really good way to consolidate learning and also make new friends.
5 Practise makes perfect

When preparing for your exam that you can request past papers from your course tutor. According to the British Council this is one of the best ways to prepare for exam success by ensuring you are prepared to answer the types of question that are likely to come up.
